Trout Springs Winery

As Brown County's first winery, we feature estate-made, award-winning wines along with vintages made from California grapes and Wisconsin grown fruit. Trout Springs Winery started in 1995 with the planting of a five-acre vineyard followed by our winery building in 1998.

Our wines are produced using Old World methods yielding full flavored wines from sweet to dry, sure to satisfy a wide range of palates. As part of the "Tuscan Experience," we offer specialty items such as fresh homemade pesto, Italian cheeses, rustic breads with herb infused dipping oils, smoked salmon pate, and Nonna's fudge. This unique property derived its name being the state's only Class A Trout Hatchery and winery.

9.14.2013: Trout Springs Winery Harvest Festival

A great day that TSW hosts right at the winery and vineyards. The day starts at 8am with family and friends of the winery joining us to harvest this years grapes. Tours of the winery and seeing a glimpse of what it takes to turn grapes into wine can be seen throughout the day. People that help with the harvest are invited to join us around 3:00pm, to a family style dinner, in appreciation, compliments of TSW. This event is FREE and Friends and Families are welcome!

Trout Springs Winery is proud to announce a partnership with Calico Cottage Wine Shop. This is no ordinary wine shop, as you can taste many local Wisconsin wines while browsing through their array of collectibles and treasures. Calico Cottage also has a nice selection of gourmet foods and mixes to fascinate your culinary senses. Please use the following link to the Calico Cottage Wine Shop website and see what's new.

Part of what makes Trout Springs Winery special is the fact that it is one of the few wineries in Wisconsin that produces an estate bottled wine. Careful attention to detail is our motto due to the limited production acreage, hence more emphasis is made towards quality, rather than quantity. Another unique aspect of Trout Springs Winery is that it is the only winery in the state with a game farm, plant nursery, and trout production facility all on the same site. It was only natural that the marriage of a fine vintage, be made with an already exquisite culinary experience. New grape varietals are constantly being grown and evaluated for taste and hardiness. Over 40 varietals have gone through production and taste trials at Trout Springs since 1995. With no other vineyards in the area, each varietal must be tested for a minimum of three years to see if it is worthy of being produced at Trout Springs. Due to the short growing season and harsh winters, each cultivar must possess specific qualities to make the "final cut" for production. The importance of time-honored traditions such as, harvest management to barrel fermentation and aging, ensures that the final product will always be as high of a quality as can be reached. The total process is never rushed, as we believe that patience is not only a virtue, but a necessity when trying to achieve the finest product nature can give you.
